THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: SKYWARD SWORD

This one obviously had to be in this list, and not just because of that disastrous E3 2010 showing (we’ll just put that one down to IR interferences). Nintendo made a gamble with The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, building the game entirely around its motion controls, and while that was an exciting idea on paper (especially for a game designed around sword-fighting combat), it just didn’t work out as well as Nintendo wanted it to. There were, of course, obvious issues with accuracy, but more importantly, playing an entire game while flailing your arms around for hours and hours on end just wasn’t as fun as it may have seemed at first. Skyward Sword’s Switch remaster added the option for a traditional control scheme, and it’s no surprise that a great number of people prefer to play the game that way.
