2. Assassin’s Creed

Sure, it’s highly inconsistent, but there’s no denying that Ubisoft struck a whole new level of creative genius with the Assassin’s Creed franchise, and then released at least two games that perfected everything they had implemented, namely Assassin’s Creed 2 and Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood. Having already snuck great franchises such as Far Cry, Prince of Persia and Tom Clancy under their belt, with Assassin’s Creed and its confusing yet engrossing storytelling and addictive and thrilling gameplay, Ubisoft hit exactly the kind of mainstream success they had been looking for. With the series have become an annual affair now, some might suggest that Ubisoft are milking the brandname of AssCreed (and they might even be right, to an extent), but there’s no denying that it’s a franchise worth milking.
