Sable
Shedworks’ Sable is a very understated endeavor, one that feels more like a pure adventure title than an open world chock-full of things to do. The game’s environments are barren in more ways than one, setting the mood when exploring ancient structures and spaceships. You’ll learn more about the world, complete tasks and fashion different masks, and ultimately partake in a rite-of-passage. While it’s all fairly laid back (think super-lite Zelda-style gameplay without combat), sometimes that atmosphere gives way to tedium. The characters themselves are appealing enough but the moment to moment gameplay can either feel meditative or ultimately dull depending on your mood (that is, when the hoverbike navigation isn’t being a pain).
