8. Revolution 4
A PS3 prototype that became irrelevant when Resistance: Fall of Man came along and did roughly the same thing, Revolution 4 was a War of the Worlds style sci-fi shooter set in modern day London. Though the “everyman” protagonist is a well worn trope, Revolution 4 still sounds interesting enough in a Half-Life narrative sort of way; furthered by the game opening with the hero on his way to work. The concept art didn’t look half bad either.
9. Heavenly Sword 2
An initial exclusive for the PS3, Heavenly Sword made up for its short campaign with interesting combat and an engrossing story. It was also nice to see a strong female protagonist for a change. We’d love to see a sequel to Heavenly Sword, so it’s sad to hear that the trilogy of games originally planned may never come to fruition. Though Ninja Theory’s move to multi-platform development makes HS2 seem unlikely, Sony still have the rights to the franchise, so they could outsource development of Heavenly Sword 2.
10. Gravité
Vita action RPG Gravity Rush was originally in development for PS3 under the name Gravité. Though the game eventually found a good home on Vita on account of the system’s accelerometer and motion controls, the new controller features on the PS4 make the original home console project suddenly seem much more relevant. Obviously they’d have to make a sequel rather than just port Gravity Rush over, but it would be great to see project Gravité return on PS4.
