Tenchu: Stealth Assassins

It’s not just the relatively unknown or poorly localized titles that suffer from some terrible voice-acting performances. Acquire’s Tenchu: Stealth Assassins released in 1998 for PlayStation One, published by Sony in Japan and Activision in the West. A masterpiece of stealth design, it was notorious for its brutal difficulty and renowned for its gorgeous graphics (at the time).

However, it also had some “unique” performances. The jailer in the third mission, for example, needs to be heard to be believed when saying “I know what you want. You want the stone. It’s safe inside my belly.” It is hilarious to slay the boss and hear Ayame proclaim “That’s my precious stone now” afterwards though. Onikage isn’t much better, especially when proclaiming that Lord Gohda’s castle has been breached.
