Clock Tower (1996)
Human Entertainment’s Clock Tower is a direct follow-up to the 1995 cult-classic, actually released in Japan as Clock Tower 2 for the PlayStation One. Though not as well-received as the first game, it still earned a good amount of critical praise and is generally considered one of the scariest games ever. The problem, as with the first Resident Evil and Deep Fear, is that the voice-acting often trips it up.
Between the awkward pauses and flat delivery, each character feels like they’re being dragged through molasses. Professor Samuel Barton deserves special mention in this case, talking about how fascinating the Clock Tower Murders are for his research while sounding like he’d rather be anywhere else.
