10. Lara Croft:

This brilliant and more than capable archaeologist started out as an obsession with juvenile gamers quickly became a bastion of female strength and courage in the face of seemingly impossible odds. She’s fought tigers, mercenaries and defeated ancient curses. She’s crossed frozen tundra and is a prime example of the evolution of a character throughout gaming, from her very basic and simple conception to a deep and believable character who has given us some of the best action adventure experiences that a lot of us can remember in recent history.

Lara Croft is the Indiana Jones of gaming and without her the world of gaming would certainly be lacking. We are sure to see more from Lara Croft as she is only going to get better with age as she drives out spirit of adventure.

Conclusion:

Gaming is full of icons, avatars that have become extensions of ourselves. We use their abilities to discover ancient ruins and save the world. We all have our favorite games, but often the experience is strengthened if not completely made by the characters that have been created. Their experience become ours and we forever carry them with us as friends and allies. These characters can make us laugh and cry, they can make us angry but most importantly they share a part of the human experience with us, an experience that has been crafted and nurtured; sometimes for years. The more we experience with them the more we feel connected to these characters as they grow.
