DUTCH VAN DER LINDE (RED DEAD REDEMPTION)
Given the fact that Dutch van der Linde has been responsible for making life miserable for not one, but two beloved Red Dead Redemption protagonists, it’s not hard to see why people dislike him. He is, after all, the villain, unlikeable by design, and the sheer injustice of his betrayal of trust of essentially everyone in his gang (especially Arthur) burns hot in the hearts of many series fans. But really, before Micah came along, Dutch was a man of principles, a man who valued loyalty above all else, a man who would do anything for his band of misfits. Does he deserve to be called out for being swayed by Micah so easily? Absolutely he does. But that shouldn’t erase the fact that for a long, long time, he was exactly the kind of father figure many in his gang had seen him as for so long.
