Consoles are/will be Dead

We’ve heard it in some form or fashion for years – that console gaming will eventually die out. “Traditional” console gaming will die out due to the Wii’s success and motion controls will be the future. The success of mobile gaming will cause consoles to die out simply due to their increased power and availability, not to mention appealing to a wider range of audiences.

Console gaming is still here though and even more successful than ever. The PS5 has shipped 19.5 million units worldwide in a little over 1.5 years. The Nintendo Switch has sold over 107 million units worldwide in its lifetime. Even the Xbox Series X/S has reportedly shipped over 12 million units, seemingly outpacing its predecessors. This is all with stock shortages worldwide.
