Games Will be “Better” on Xbox Series X/S and PS5

Ever since the Xbox One and PS4 launched, it was assumed that games would be held back due to their aging hardware. Which was a valid complaint but we still received incredible releases like Red Dead Redemption 2, Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain, Horizon Zero Dawn, Gears 5, the list goes on. But with the sheer amount of power that the Xbox Series X/S and PS5 possess, it was assumed that finally, finally games would be better all around.
As it turns out, that’s not the case. Marvel’s Avengers isn’t automatically a better game on current-gen consoles. Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin is still…well, Strange of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin. For every Resident Evil Village, there’s been a Balan Wonderworld.
Long story short, better hardware doesn’t automatically equal better games, regardless of the platform. It’s in the development process which depends on hundreds of different things.
