What Gears of War lacks in story and characters (and yes, I'm sticking to this oh so controversial opinion), it makes up for with its awesome weapon designs. More destructive even than chainsaw equipped rifles and ink grenades is the iconic Hammer of Dawn. A simple laser targeting system, the gun's main purpose is to summon a giant laser form a nearby orbital satellite. Talk about calling in the cavalry. It's well balanced by a lengthy charge time and the need to have a clear sky above the target, but its destructive power remains a mighty spectacle.
