Bill Skarsgård is also a huge Metal Gear Solid fan, who's played every single title, "starting from the PlayStation One to the last."

Remember when Physint director Hideo Kojima revealed that Bill Skarsgård, who plays the lead role in the tactical espionage title, is a “huge fan” of Metal Gear Solid? Skarsgård addressed that on Josh Horwitz’s Happy Sad Confused Podcast, noting that he played “every single one.”

“Starting from the one on PlayStation One all the way to the last one. I was very enamored by him, the mythology and universes he creates, but also the mystique and allure about him, as well. He is an auteur, but he’s a video game auteur. He’s fluent in filmmaking, and film, and cinema.”

While Kojima is no stranger to narrative-heavy games that blur the lines between movies and gameplay, Skarsgård believes he’s “inventing a new medium.”

“What we’re going to do is going to be eight hours’ worth of narrative, right? But it’s also an entire universe that you play.” He also noted how the title is closer to “something photorealistic and also interactive” and believes that Kojima is a “pioneer, and he keeps going out to untreaded waters.”

If you need further proof of his enthusiasm for the role and working with Kojima, the latter said Skarsgård wanted to know his lines and his character’s manner of speaking as soon as possible. “I have the plot ready. But he wants to know the lines and how his character speaks. He asks me to write it, but I’m like, ‘Hold on!’ He wants to start preparing now. That’s how deeply he gets into a role.”

Little is otherwise known about Skarsgård’s character, though Kojima Productions’ 10th Anniversary exhibit may have teased multiple looks, potentially across different periods. It also revealed some machines that match Metal Gear REX and the GEKKO more than a little.

But aside from nearly facing cancellation after PlayStation backed out of publishing (until Xbox picked it up), we know almost nothing about Physint. As always, stay tuned for more updates.

Of course, the studio is also working on the horror title, OD, which Xbox is also publishing. Again, there isn’t much information to go off of aside from actor/director Jordan Peele’s involvement.
