The Accidental Betrayal – Any game

Intentional betrayal is part of the dark and highly annoying side of online gaming, but accidental ones are often too amusing for you to stay angry at the perpetrator. Whether it’s a poorly timed grenade, a wild rocket or a guy running in front of your sniping roost, the accidental betrayal is, quite obviously, a never expected amusement.

The “Where Did That Come From?!” Splatter – Halo series

Splattering foot soldiers from behind the wheel is a classic way to get a kill in the Halo series but, following the improved physics in Halo 3 onwards, it’s the unexpected splatters that are the most memorable. Exploding vehicle rubble, crashing aircraft etc. It all adds to a certain physical realism that has an amusing air of the ludicrous simultaneously.

The Armour Lock Deflection – Halo Reach

The armour lock was one of the new and more crazy armour abilities added in Halo Reach, allowing its user to become invulnerable for a limited time at the expense of manoeuvrability. One of the benefits of this ability is the way that locked armour deflects rockets. There’s nothing quite like turning someone’s rockets against them, as it always takes them by surprise.

The Skyjack – Halo series

Jacking a ground vehicle mid-drive is ridiculous enough, but taking a vehicle when it’s in the sky is just utter madness. You’d think you’d be safe in the air but, with the addition of the jetpack in Halo Reach, few vehicles are safe from the terror of ground soldiers with the strength of a Spartan. If losing your vehicles isn’t bad enough, then the fall certainly will be.
