METAL GEAR SOLID 4: GUNS OF THE PATRIOTS
Hideo Kojima was not kind to Solid Snake, was he? Throughout the series, Snake is manipulated by the Patriots every step of the way, and the consequences are disastrous. They all rear their heads in MGS4, where, even despite the defeat of the Patriots and the world being freed from their oppressive control, the ending is far from happy one for Solid Snake. Having wasted his entire life as a soldier fighting a wasteful war and being used by a pawn by a cavalcade of master manipulators, when it all comes to an end, Snake barely has a handful of years of life left, thanks to his rapidly accelerated ageing. Hardly a just ending for the man.
