Firewatch
Back in the day, a popular meme surrounding Campo Santo’s Firewatch was simply, “Well, just what is Firewatch?” You can distill it into a narrative adventure game, a first person walking simulator and even a mystery. Set in Shoshone National Forest, the player controls Henry, who’s been hired as a fire lookout and quickly builds a rapport with another lookout named Delilah over the radio. Throughout the gorgeously rendered environments and lush scenery, their pasts are slowly exposed through numerous branching conversations, even as strange events begin to occur. It’s not quite you’d expect but then, that’s one of its biggest appeals.
