2. Mario
Since the dawn of Super Mario 64, Nintendo's mascot proved that he was capable of adapting to modern technology. After the disappointing reception of Mario Sunshine though, it seems Nintendo has become increasingly frugal with its 3D Mario titles. Granted, the two Galaxy games were excellent but, as Galaxy 2 didn't really innovate in any way, it's hard to really give Nintendo full credit for being adventurous. In the long wait between 3D Marios, we're treated to a lot of retro 2D throwbacks which, charming at first, are now seriously starting to get old.
