The scientific explanation for this is that in real world depending on a plane’s altitude, and the temperature and humidity of the atmosphere may vary in their thickness, extent and duration. In the same way the game’s planes and jet leave trails in the sky. Nevermind the scientific explanation, it just looks darn cool.
