The Atari 5200 Controller looked like an oversized calculator, but the main mistake Atari made was trying to fix something that was not broken, as the original Atari 2600 controller was good. Most importantly Atari and other gaming companies learnt that keyboard and mouse are quite useless on controllers, and gamers don’t use number pads. The Atari 5200 was quickly forgotten and slipped into oblivion.
