Continuing Super Combos After Getting Parried
The Daigo Parry is the most iconic fighting game moment of all time, easily. The moment itself consisted of Daigo parrying each hit of his opponent’s Super Move, which was essentially a combo. Which is impressive in and of itself but wouldn’t it make sense in a real fight to just cancel the move? Or transition into something else once you’ve seen the first few hits getting blocked or parried? If you know your combo is being telegraphed, why follow through with it all the way? And for that matter, why does parrying something usually mean negating all manner of damage?
