12 Fighting Game Mechanics That Make No Sense

A fight's a fight, right? Turns out that's not always the case in some games.

Super Moves

Every combatant has that one ultimate technique, and it’s believable that they’d wait for the right time to use it. However, they’re beholden to the tenets of a fighting game, which means having enough Super meter to unleash said Super Move. So it becomes less about “unleashing your best technique” at the right time and more about managing meter (which invariably segues into unleashing your best technique at the right time). It makes sense within the system of a video game but not quite in an actual fight. Then again, some actual fights can end with a single punch or kick so maybe we’re being picky.
