QUAKE 2
It’s not just shiny new games that benefit from the wonders of ray tracing. In 2019, Nvidia and Lightspeed Studios released Quake 2 RTX, a re-imagination of the 1997 id Software classic with real time ray tracing, and it’s hard to believe how well it turned out. The game looks ridiculously good. The blocky textures and assets are still here (though they do look better), but just one look at the game in action shows that realistic, beautiful lighting is perhaps the single most important thing when it comes to video game graphics.
