Zack’s final stand against Shinra – Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7

There are few moments in gaming as heart-wrenchingly epic as Zack’s final stand in Crisis Core. Zack is pretty much superhuman at this point, but his and Cloud’s confinement in Shinra Manor left them both Mako poisoned and on the brink of death. You control Zack on the trek to Midgar holding an unconscious Cloud on his shoulders when an army of Shinra soldiers blocks the path forward. You’re then left to fend for yourself against dozens of soldiers in a supposed-to-lose fight. While this battle ends in tragedy in Crisis Core, the Final Fantasy 7 Remake games would throw a wrench in the timeline, quite literally. Regardless, the Price of Freedom music playing over Zack’s heroic last stand still hits just as hard as it did back when Crisis Core was a PSP exclusive.
