Skill Based Matchmaking

Destiny 2_Curse of Osiris_04

There’s no denying that some degree of skill matching is necessary in multiplayer. After all, you don’t want new players consistently being destroyed by veterans. But when skill is emphasized too heavily, you get something like Destiny 2’s Crucible or Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. The better you perform, the more skilled opponents you’re matched against, regardless of how laggy some lobbies can get. It also doesn’t help that you’re saddled with lesser proficient players resulting in a “balanced” game on paper but which is actually a stomp. Long story short, more matchmaking options, developers. Give the power to players and let them choose the experience they want.
