Side-scrollers tend to have one or two bosses that just don’t belong in the game, in Revelations: Persona it was Pandora. Set as the final boss of the game, Pandora was the monster incarnation of Pandora’s Box, not surprisingly, its design was really unsettling, and the surroundings were just as creepy, now imagine being a kid and seeing this thing.
