Before their rise to prominence with Dark Souls, the Tenchu series was From Software’s claim to fame and where their long running fixation on having the player character face down similar bosses originates from. Hyakubake in the third entry will take the form of the playable character opposite the one the player is actually using, and makes full use of either Rikimaru or Ayame’s abilities, such as the blowgun, against them. It wasn’t the first time they used the trick, but it was the most memorable.
