Hive Mind – Dead Space
In space, no one can hear you scream, unless you’re fighting a massive space tentacle monster. After hours of sneaking through the dilapidated spaceship that served as Dead Space’s setting, peaking around each corner for fear of what lurked behind it, the final boss lacked all of the suspense that the rest of the game utilized so well.
A massive necromorph creature that constantly lashed at Isaac with thick, sinewy tentacles, with each tentacle harboring a massive, glowing yellow bulb. All players had to do was dodge the hail of limbs, pump a couple of rounds into its massive weak points and wait for it to die. It is a classic case of a final boss going against all of the sensibilities the game has already established, marring an otherwise incredible game.
