JOEL’S INSPIRATION
According to Neil Druckmann, when he was first conceptualizing The Last of Us, the inspiration for Joel’s character was Josh Brolin’s character in No Country for Old Men, Llewelyn Moss. Of course, that is the foundation that Joel was built on, but by the end, he ended up having much more emotional depth. His role as a father (and a father figure to Ellie) contributed to that depth significantly.
