Mafia 2’s open world was a pretty big step down from its predecessor even with how gorgeous it looked at the time. The era and tone, which took cues from mobster films, coupled with the strong story made it fun. It also didn’t hurt that the visuals and overall shooting mechanics were pretty good. As it stands even with the lack of open world content, Mafia 2 still delivers a great story that’s worth checking out.
