The pinnacle of masochism, or at least it was in 2005, Ninja Gaiden Black took no prisoners. Even on the default difficulty, the game demanded a strong understanding of wall-running, jumping, blocking and attacking at high speeds. Ninja Gaiden Black did introduce an easy mode of sorts with Ninja Dog difficulty but proceeded to buff all the other modes in terms of toughness, along with adding a new Master Ninja difficulty. Ninja Gaiden Black is a great game, make no mistake, but it beat us down mercilessly.
