Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain
Despite a turbulent development cycle, Kojima’s swansong Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain stands tall as one of the best open-world games ever. It features a complex web of interweaving systems and mechanics that can be bent to the player’s will, and there are few games that could rival the amount of player agency that The Phantom Pain offers. The story has a few rough edges, but it’s definitely one that’s worth seeing through to the end – and the fun multiplayer mode is just the icing on the top of an already lovely cake.
