This PSP launch title flipped the Metal Gear playbook via its introduction of turn-based tactics and trading card systems to control character movement and actions, so whilst Metal Gear Acid didn’t harbour the familiar action strategy gameplay fans of the series had grown accustomed its high presentation value, unique art style, and intriguing narrative – alongside these peculiar deck building mechanics – made it and its sequel essential playing on Sony’s handheld.
