STAR WARS: THE FORCE UNLEASHED (PS3/X360/WII/NDS/PSP/PC)
Back when it was about to be released, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed was advertised as being ‘Episode 3.5’ for the Star Wars series, an integral part of the canon that would fill in the story gap between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. The story was what piqued people’s interest, but the gameplay was even better- a full on Star Wars third person action game, featuring lightsabers, guns and weapons, and Force powers, a morality system that would dictate how the story would play out, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed was basically the perfect Star Wars game. Sure, there was some jank- the game definitely could have done with some more polish. But man, it was probably the ultimate Star Wars game for the fans, from its gameplay to its story.
It helped that it looked absolutely incredible. It helped that the Wii version let you swing your Wii Remote like a lightsaber, enacting a fantasy you’ve had since you were a kid. It helped that the PSP version was a perfect portable translation of the title. Star Wars: The Force Unleashed was the last time LucasArts made a great game- and it was one hell of a way to sign off.
