No Escape

In the Battle Royale series of books and manga, there is a decent subplot of our heroes trying to escape rather than committing wanton slaughter. Why is that not an option in PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds or Fortnite? Why are we so committed to just killing each other? Yes, it’s a video game but having some kind of option to escape rather than being an unwitting participant to the slaughter would have been cool. Especially since no one has an exploding collar attached to their neck.
