#4. HYDRA- GOD OF WAR
This is how we were all thrust into the world of God of War– with a multi-legged battle against a massive, three-headed hydra in the middle of a raging sea. This boss battle was perfect in so many ways. Not only was did it neatly encapsulate what God of War was about as a game, serving as the perfect introduction, it was also a very well designed encounter. It had escalation, it had some excellent QTEs, the way Kratos finished off the beast by impaling it on the mast of a ship was immensely satisfying- everything about it was just so damn good, to the extent that even now, more than a decade after we first played it, it’s still seared into our memories.
