Sonic Mania – Exists
Sonic the Hedgehog being the embodiment of the former child star who went terribly off the rails and bad decisions that he is, just when Sonic Team and Sega were out of ideas about what to do with their mascot, they did probably the smartest thing they’ve done with the character in many years. They gave him to the fans. Having worked with Christian Whitehead and many of the cohorts who helped him create Sonic Mania previously on mobile ports of the classic titles, they knew that the powers of Christian Whitehead, Headcannon and Pagodawest Games combined would lead to something special. The pride, energy and passion that poured freely from the final product was plain to see, pleasing fans all over the world and receiving the kind of critical reception that Sonic hasn’t seen since the 90s.
