It’s no secret that Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto 6 is the most anticipated game of next year, even with heavy hitters like Ghost of Yotei, Assassin’s Creed Shadows and Monster Hunter Wilds. The open-world title is targeting a Fall 2025 launch, and while the second half of the year is relatively unknown, it’s probably not a coincidence.
Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier recently reported that other game publishers are waiting “as long as possible” before committing to Fall release dates for their titles. This is according to “people familiar with their deliberations.” Such is the anticipation that publishers are allegedly waiting to see if it will meet its launch window or get delayed to 2026. Either way, the sentiment is to “keep their own games far, far away.”
Once again, it’s no secret why, as Grand Theft Auto 6 will take up most player interest for the month. Look no further than its first trailer crossing 225 million views since debuting last year or Grand Theft Auto 5 continuing to sell like hotcakes over 11 years later. As far as release strategies go, it makes the most sense.
Grand Theft Auto 6 will be available for Xbox Series X/S and PS5 at launch. A representative for Rockstar recently said that the studio is working on “absolutely mind-blowing things.” Head here for more details.
