Prey (2017)
Arkane Austin’s spiritual successor to 2006’s Prey and, according to them, a spiritual sequel of sorts to 1994’s System Shock, Prey tasks Morgan Yu with helping survivors aboard research station Talos I whilst shapeshifting alien force the Typhon run amok. This game continually keeps you on your toes; anything alive or inanimate could kill you, but on the flipside this shapeshifting ability can be learned to turn the tide in your favour. Elsewhere, Prey is a great example of player decisions shaping outcomes, with game designer Richard Bare claiming there are a host of tiny permutations shaping the fate of Morgan, Talos I, and humanity at large.
