Battlefield: Bad Company 2
Instead of team play and tactics seen in the genre’s large-scale warfare, Bad Company was instead more streamlined, focused on shooting and blowing stuff up. Its linearity fostered a meaningful narrative too, with Bad Company 2 featuring a more memorable, emotionally investable cast than its competetion. The environmental destructibility is still a major draw here. It’s a shame this feature was largely abandoned or blown out of proportion in other games.
