Crysis
Crysis feels different to play than its competitors in that its action takes place in less linear, more open spaces. Openness can lead to a less-focused narrative, of course, but this is a genre not famed for its writing and story anyway. Instead, Crysis excelled via its powerful exoskeleton nanosuit combat, gifting players access to enhanced strength, manoeuvrability, stealth, and speed, depending on their chosen suit’s mode. In gameplay terms, this presented numerous approaches to battle, from sneak attack to awe-striking firepower, and it was… well, just heaps of fun. Playing Crysis is still, to this day, supremely enjoyable.
