THIEF II: THE METAL AGE
For a long time – maybe even now – Thief II: The Metal Age was the standard that all other interactive stealth sims aspired to. Hiding from your enemies was a very natural process in Thief II, stepping away from conventions such as vision cones and going for much more realistic light and shadow mechanics. The levels were open spaces filled with possibilities and opportunities for players to exploit, encouraging improvisation and smart thinking rather than forcing linear gameplay, while each room and area you entered was teeming with secrets for players to discover. Add to that an incredible sense of atmosphere and excellent art design, and you have on your hands one of the greatest immersive sims of all time.
