The PS4 Neo and the Xbox One Scorpio are more or less confirmed by this point. No, they still haven’t received official announcements, but everyone knows they’re a thing, and no one- not even Sony and Microsoft- are making any efforts to deny or even hide that fact. These two mid-cycle upgrades to the PS4 and the Xbox One could turn out to be a new paradigm altogether for console gaming by changing the expectations for tech upgrades for them from once every five to seven years to once every two or three. Will people embrace an idea as radical as this, or will they be pushed back? It remains to be seen.
