Shadow Queen – Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door
The risen dark monarch, the Shadow Queen comes to power by processing Princess Peach at the climax of Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door. A being so powerful that Mario and his party can’t even scratch her, things seem rather bleak for a world about to be plunged into darkness forever, until the Crystal Stars pull that good old JRPG get out of jail free card of Mario gaining the power from the people who believe in him and cheer him on. While a little bit hackney, the tension and despair that is exhibited by the final fight is nearly unique to the Mario series, outside of a handful of other RPG appearances.
