Manhunt
After the success of Grand Theft Auto 3 and Vice City, Rockstar Games diverged into a different brand of violence with Manhunt. As James Earl Cash, a death row prisoner forced to murder gangs and other violent criminals for questionable films, players were tossed into a world of cruelty and survival. Running headfirst into a fight was suicide – sneaking up on foes and brutalizing them was key since this affected one’s grade for a scene. It was dark but also compelling despite some of the flaws with the AI and level design.
