We all appreciate good AI in racing games to actually give us a challenge, but the vast, vast majority of games in the genre tend to resort to rubber banding techniques. You might be miles ahead of your opponents, and they might still close the gap on you in no time at all, all in the name of artificial difficulty. Even great games – like Mario Kart – fall back on rubber banding a bit too much.
