We’re living in a golden age of survival horror games, so when THQ Nordic and Pieces Interactive announced a reimagining of the original Alone in the Dark in the style of modern Resident Evil remakes, there was plenty of reason to be optimistic. Sadly, Alone in the Dark still can’t figure out how to be- well, good. Though not completely irredeemable, far too much of it feels either underbaked or too unpolished, and ultimately, the game ends up falling short of the high standards the best games in the genre usually tend to aspire to.
