MORE REALISTIC SOCIAL LINKS
Social Links in Persona 3 were as well received as they were because they were something new- they brought something fresh to the experience, something that fans of the franchise or the JRPG genre hadn’t seen before- at least not in this capacity. However, there’s no denying that the scenarios they portrayed were also quite unrealistic, and their writing was often goofy, and at times even unbearably cartoonish. Persona 4 made massive improvements in this aspect, and the character interactions and how they grew during S.Link scenes demonstrated how far the writing had come. What we’d like for Persona 5 would be for the S.Links to continue in that direction, and take it even further. There is still room for improvement in the quality of the writing, as well as the character development itself, and as we mentioned before, we’d like to see the Social Links having an impact on the progression of the story itself as well. Not just that, we would also like to see Social Links having an impact on each other- for example, the fact that you could romance several characters in Persona without there being any repercussions felt a tad unrealistic. Here’s hoping Atlus address these painfully obvious concerns in Persona 5.
