THE SINKING CITY
Prior to launch, The Sinking City was looking like it would be yet another excellent AA title to sink our teeth into, with its fascinating premise, its Lovecraft-inspired story, and its choice-based RPG mechanics. And though its central mystery and its Lovecraftian aesthetic were indeed highlights of the experience, issues in other areas hurt the overall quality. The Sinking City suffers from technical issues, average visuals, and clunky combat, while the city of Oakmont itself feels hollow and dull. It certainly delivers on the promise of an intriguing story, but it also requires you to put up with a lot of shoddiness to get to the good stuff.
