ANCESTORS: THE HUMANKIND ODYSSEY
Coming from an indie studio headed up by the creator of Assassin’s Creed, Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey certainly had plenty of talent backing it, while its unique concept itself was also something that grabbed the attention of many. And while there’s satisfaction and enjoyment to be found here if you can invest enough time into the game, there’s just far too many flaws to ignore. Ancestors can be unnecessarily dense and obtuse at times, and the whole experience – more often than not – can be a bit of a slog with its tedious gameplay and repetitive structure (especially in the first few hours). There’s a good idea in here that developers Panache Digital can (and hopefully will) take to greater heights in the future, but in the here and now, Ancestors fails to do justice to its unique premise.
