SONIC THE HEDGHEHOG (2006)
Sonic the Hedgehog has always struggled to find its feet in the 3D space, but never has it sunk as low as it did with its reboot in 2006. It’s honestly amazing just how severely Sonic 06 failed at so many things- to the point where, to this day, it’s surprising that Sega thought it was a good idea to release it in the state it released in. Not only was the game a complete technical mess, it was also a nightmare to play. Poor controls, a clunky camera, and half-baked mechanics combined in an experience that was flat-out unplayable at times. Meanwhile, the decision to tell a “gritty” and “grounded” story in a freaking Sonic game of all things ended up failing as miserably as anyone could have imagined- made all the worse by a terrible cast of characters and hilariously bad voice acting.
