Uru: Ages Beyond Myst – $12 million

When you look at some of the games on this list, the budget for Uru: Ages Beyond Myst seems fairly modest. At $12 million, it’s not the highest development cost for a Myst game. However, poor returns on the same and trying to live up to the reputation of Myst, the first three games having sold 12 million copies, pretty much doomed Uru: Ages Beyond Myst. Cyan Worlds eventually shuttered but it thankfully returned thanks to the successful Kickstarter campaign for Obduction.
